New Post

Dear Friends,

Thanks for the good responses about your first meetings. I was moved by some of your descriptions. Please keep posting not only about your meetings abut also about your thoughts and emotions in response to your meetings. What goes on in your thoughts when you are working with your partner? What goes on after you're done? dw

first prompt

Dear Friends,

This is still a little new to me, but I think I have created our central blog site. We will use this site to coordinate all course-related announcements and responses. You will still create your own individual blogs, which I will link to this (our course) blog. This way we will have easy access to everyone's responses and postings.

Since we are still setting up our service-learning component, I would like to start off the blogging by asking you to think about your sense of community. Last week we have started our course by talking about the techniques of descriptive writing. Using these techniques (concrete language and the careful selection and arrangement of detail), I would like you describe the street that you grew up on. If you moved once or more, choose the street that you associate with your childhood. Describe what you see when you close your eyes and recall the street scene in front of your house. Or when you look up and down the street. Without over describing, try to recreate what you see in your mind. dw
